WHO"S GOT MY BACK?

God Never Meant You to Carry Everything Alone

Sometimes God answers a prayer by changing your circumstances.

Sometimes He gives you the strength to keep going.

And sometimes He sends another person to help carry you through the season.

This morning, I appeared on the Going Deeper podcast with Kyler, and our conversation reminded me of just how important the people God places in our lives can become.

One of the clearest examples comes from Mark 2.

A paralyzed man needed to reach Jesus, but he could not make the journey by himself.

So four men carried him.

When they reached the house where Jesus was teaching, the crowd was so large that they could not get through the entrance.

They could have given up.

They could have turned around.

Instead, they climbed onto the roof, opened a way through, and lowered their friend directly in front of Jesus.

Then Scripture tells us that Jesus saw their faith.

Think about that for a moment.

The man who needed help could not get himself to Jesus.

His friends could not heal him.

They could not solve his problem.

But they could carry him.

They could refuse to leave him behind.

And they could bring him to the One who could do what they could not.

We All Need Someone Sometimes

There will be seasons when you are the strong one.

You will encourage someone.

You will pray for them.

You will listen when they need to talk.

You will remind them that God has not forgotten them.

You may help them take one more step when they feel like giving up.

But there will also be seasons when you are the one who needs help.

Maybe you are facing anxiety.

Maybe you are exhausted.

Maybe disappointment has taken more out of you than you expected.

Maybe you are grieving.

Maybe you feel alone.

Maybe you are carrying something that nobody around you fully understands.

Needing someone beside you does not mean you have failed.

Sometimes faith means trusting God enough to allow another person to help.

A Friend Does Not Have to Fix Everything

A real friend may not have the solution.

They may not know the perfect words.

They may not be able to change your circumstances.

But they can stay.

They can listen.

They can pray.

They can encourage you.

They can remind you who you are when pain has made you forget.

And they can help point you back toward Jesus.

Sometimes God answers prayer through another person.

Sometimes He places someone beside you who believes in you when you are struggling to believe in yourself.

Sometimes one conversation reminds you that your voice still matters.

And sometimes you are the person God wants to use in somebody else's life.

Watch the Video

In this video, I talk more about what the story in Mark 2 teaches us about friendship, faith, encouragement, and carrying one another through the difficult seasons of life.

If this message reaches you during a difficult season, remember this:

You do not have to pretend that you are strong enough to handle everything alone.

Let the right people walk beside you.

Let them pray for you.

Let them encourage you.

And never underestimate what God can accomplish through someone who refuses to leave you behind.

Then ask yourself one more question:

Who might God be asking me to help carry today?

You may not be able to solve everything they are facing.

But you can listen.

You can pray.

You can encourage them.

You can show up.

And sometimes showing up is exactly where God begins.

Your friend,
