When Faith Forgets the Person

There are moments when a community becomes so focused on proving who is wrong that it forgets how Jesus Christ treated people.
When someone becomes the target of criticism, religious judgment, exclusion, shame, or public condemnation, the example of Jesus challenges us to stop and look again.
Jesus did not measure people by the accusations surrounding them. He saw their humanity. He listened to their stories. He confronted hypocrisy, protected dignity, offered mercy, and demonstrated that biblical truth and genuine compassion belong together.
My latest Christian article, “Where Jesus Stood When Religion Chose a Target,” examines what the life and teachings of Jesus reveal about grace, mercy, forgiveness, church hurt, religious hypocrisy, spiritual judgment, human dignity, and loving people who have been rejected by others.
This is not a call to abandon Christian beliefs. It is a call to represent those beliefs in a way that actually reflects Christ.
Following Jesus means refusing to turn another person into an enemy for the crowd to attack. It means recognizing that accountability does not require humiliation. It means speaking truth without cruelty, holding convictions without hatred, and remembering that every person is someone Jesus came to save.
This message is for Christians who want to grow in grace and truth. It is for people who have been wounded by religion. It is for leaders, churches, families, and communities seeking a better way to respond when disagreement becomes personal.
Before we join a crowd in condemning someone, we should ask a more important question:
Where would Jesus stand?
